Family Spotlight: Meet Emily Soule

June 11, 2025 -

Meet Emily Soule, EBR School Board Member and parent of 3 Great Hearts scholars!
Emily Soule is a dedicated parent, community leader, and advocate for educational choice in Baton Rouge. Born and raised in the city, Emily and her husband, Scott, met on the first day of their sophomore year at Baton Rouge High and later continued their education together at LSU. Today, they are the proud parents of three daughters: Ella (7th grade), Amy (6th grade), and Ann Virginia—fondly called AV (5th grade).
With a deep passion for serving families, Emily works full-time in ministry as the Family Ministries Director at Grace Life Fellowship. Her commitment to the Baton Rouge community led her to run for the District 8 seat on the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board in 2023, recognizing the critical need for increased school choice. “I believe every family, regardless of their location or financial situation, should have access to educational options that meet their children’s needs,” she says.
Emily and her family joined Great Hearts Harveston this school year, drawn to our commitment to classical education, exceptional faculty, and tuition-free model. “It has been such a joy to see Great Hearts come to Baton Rouge,” she shares. “Watching my 5th grader memorize and recite poetry, my 6th grader explore a variety of sports, and my 7th grader discover new art techniques has been a perfect fit for us.” She particularly appreciates our approach to teaching through a classical lens, fostering deep understanding and critical thinking.
Outside of school and ministry, the Soule family enjoys watching movies together and traveling.
